10 Best Rivalries In NXT History
6. Shayna Baszler Vs Kairi Sane
Perhaps we cheating in including the Mae Young Classic as part of this story, but everyone knows that it's basically NXT.
Japanese star, Kairi Sane, and former MMA fighter, Shayna Baszler, first met in the finals of the first Mae Young Classic back in 2017.
Whilst Sane won the match and the tournament, Baszler was the first to capture the NXT Women's Championship, defeating Ember Moon for the gold at TakeOver: New Orleans.
Their rematch at TakeOver: Brooklyn IV was based around Sane's quest to become more vicious, like her opponent, whilst still retaining her morality. The match was an excellent showing for both women and Sane eventually countered Baszler's Kirifuda Clutch hold to win the match.
The two women even got to represent NXT at Evolution, WWE's first all-female Pay-Per-View, where Baszler won the belt back from Sane with help from Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.
Their rivalry appears to be over, but Sane and Baszler are two wrestlers who have the potential to feud on-and-off for the rest of their careers and never get dull. They have the perfect history, the perfect chemistry, and the perfect balance of character.
Also, with backup from The Four Horsewomen for Baszler and Io Shirai for Sane, they could have a really awesome Survivor Series match in a few years time.
