4. Suzuki-gun

Formerly New Japan's foremost recipients of X-Pac heat, Suzuki-gun are absolutely killing it at the moment, and could well storm up our rankings by year's end.

Leader Minoru Suzuki is having an incredible 2018. He lost to Hirooki Goto in an awesome match at Wrestle Kingdom 12, and has since taken Hiroshi Tanahashi's IWGP Intercontinental Title in a thrilling ****1/2 New Beginning In Sapporo clash. Throw similar bangers with Togi Makabe and the UK's Moustache Mountain into the mix, and you're left with the early clubhouse leader for 'Wrestler Of The Year' honours.

Beneath him is an army of miscreants, troublemakers, and ne'er-do-wells. Zack Sabre Jr. has developed hints of his boss' trademark technical sadism since joining the group. The scuzzy El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Champions, having taken the belts from Roppongi 3K earlier this month. Even Taichi, once considered among Japan's most tedious wrestlers, is having fantastic matches since going heavyweight.

Suzuki-gun are incredibly effective as NJPW's resident heel marauders, and now that they've stopped ruining so many potentially great matches with needless interferences, they're a credit to the company, not a detriment.
