Stone Cold is known for a lot of things. Hes foul-mouthed, hes violent, he likes to drink and he hates authority. So who better for him to feud with than the milk-drinking, gold medal-winning Olympic hero Kurt Angle? The two first became associated with each other during Austins alliance with Vince McMahon, and competed for his favour, but when WCW invaded, the battle lines were drawn. Steve Austin betrayed WWF to lead The Alliance of WCW and ECW, claiming he wasnt appreciated enough by Vince McMahon. Kurt Angle stepped up as the leader of Team WWF at a time when Triple H was injured and The Rock was away, and he became the hero the WWF needed. In one of his most famous moments, he parodied Austin, interrupting Austin Appreciation Night by coming to the ring in a milk truck and spraying The Alliance with milk, just as Stone Cold had done with beer years earlier. As fun as Austin and Angle could be, the feud was deeply personal as Austin, a WCW star, held the WWF Championship. In an emotional moment, Kurt Angle defeated The Rattlesnake at Unforgiven in his home town of Pittsburgh, PA when Austin tapped out to Angles anklelock. Reportedly, this was a last minute decision as Unforgiven was twelve days after the World Trade Center attacks, and it was decided an American hero winning the gold would be a great morale boost. Angle did lose the title not long after due to WWF Commissioner William Regal defecting to the Alliance, and eventually joined himself. It was however, all a ruse to ensure the downfall of The Alliance as at the Winner Takes All match at Survivor Series 2001. Angle helped Team WWF win and vanquished WCW for good, but no-one on Team WWF believed Kurt's story, making him a pariah. They met for the WWF Championship one last time at Vengeance, and although Austin won, Kurt would get revenge attacking Austin on his way to his second match that night, for the WWF Undisputed Championship.
