10 Best Stone Cold Steve Austin Matches Ever

9. Vs. Ricky Steamboat (Clash Of The Champions, 8/24/94)

For all of Austin's WCW brilliance, this is the only match from that promotion that makes the list, which is somewhat amazing. The best representation of Austin as a soldier in the Turner army comes at the end of "Stunning Steve's" prominence in the company, before injuries and short-sighted booking altered the course of his destiny for good.

Even at age 41, 'The Dragon' was the epitome of a fiery (no pun intended) babyface. He and cunning villain Austin (the reigning US Champion) crafted absolute magic, particularly over the final sequence in which Austin does all he can possibly do to snuff out Steamboat's supercharged comeback.

The match is doubly notable for Steamboat sustaining (or worsening) the back injuries that would end his career, cancelling a rematch between the two for the Fall Brawl pay-per-view. Nominally, it was the last meaningful match either man would have in WCW.
