Some will take umbrage with the ending, the explicit record scratch that halted the Attitude Era dance party for good. Austin shaking hands with Vince McMahon was a monumentally-shocking moment riveted to one of Austin's greatest matches ever, as well as Rock's absolute greatest match ever (crap, that spoils a future list).

Everything in those first 23 or 24 minutes was what you'd expect from two WWE cornerstones, in the main event of what is almost universally hailed as the greatest pay-per-view ever. The evenly-matched Austin and Rock took turns trying to drain each other's will, in a fight that each needed to win in the name of pride and ego. The belt wasn't all that was at stake: claim as WWE's alpha was as well.

Rock never looked better in the ring, and the same could almost be said for Austin. The two colossi of the Attitude Era left it all on the mat, and even the swerve of swerves doesn't diminish their Herculean efforts.
