10 Best Strong-Style Wrestlers Ever
4. Samoa Joe
For fans who are still having a hard time wrapping their minds around what strong style is - and admittedly, it's a controversial term that isn't easily defined - just think of it another way:
Samoa Joe.
It's largely possible that there's never been an American wrestler as proficient in the art of strong style wrestling as Samoa Joe. Naturally, he's locked up a lot of experience in Japan - including a formative run in Pro Wrestling Zero-1 - but it seems like Joe was destined to be the kind of hard-hitting conqueror that, before the 2000s, only Japan seemed to produce.
A former California state judo champion, Joe has always seemed to prefer simple throws to complicated moves, and despite his athletic tendency to use his own body as a weapon, he can just as easily dominate a match by slapping on a quick joint hold or choke. His submissions are unparalleled, but so is his striking ability.
In the end, many different forms of offense make up Joe's repertoire, but all of it is strong.
