Instead of turning this entry into yet another rant about how much money was flushed down the toilet on the Invasion angle and how stupid Vince McMahon was for making the entire storyline about stroking his ego rather than making money, let's try to be unbiased and look at the team for what it is.

For supposedly being a team made up of WCW and ECW stars, you may notice that only two out of the five members were actually considered talent from those companies.

Steve Austin is the greatest WWF superstar of all-time, Kurt Angle was a rookie when WCW was in its dying days, and Shane McMahon is Vince's son, for God's sake. Of course, this was due to Vince's belief that no WCW or ECW guy could draw, so he had to turn his magical WWF wrestlers heel in order to get the crowd to buy them as a threat, which was totally stupid (hey, I tried).

However, stupidity of the storyline notwithstanding, the team is actually pretty stacked. Rob Van Dam was one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster at this point and should have received a world title push; Shane could go in the ring and didn't care about little things like "health" and "safety" at all; Austin was Austin; Angle was Angle, and Booker seemed to be the only WCW guy who didn't get caught in Vince's midcard machine.

While the team lost the match, WWE would kill to be able to present half of a main event with this kind of star power in 2015.
