Kane and Rob Van Dam came together shortly after the brand split in 2002, presumably finding common ground in the fact that both of them - along with half the Raw roster - had recently come up short in feuds with Triple H.

Almost instantly, they became fan favourites. There was just something alluring about watching two wrestlers whose in-ring styles were diametrically opposed partner up, even if neither of them really belonged in the tag division.

The duo would go on to hold the World Tag Team Championships for around three months after beating the team of Chief Morley and Lance Storm on the Raw directly following WrestleMania XIX, eventually dropping them to La Résistance at Bad Blood.

Unfortunately, defeat to René Duprée proved to be one humiliation too many for The Big Red Machine, who shortly after removed his mask and went on a rampage of destruction, beating up just about everybody - RVD included - in his path.
