10 Best TNA Wrestlers Who Didn't Win Gold

1. Desmond Wolfe

Back in the days of wonderful booking simulator EWR (or later TEW), one of the first things I did in charge of TNA programming was put Desmond Wolfe into a title program. Whether this was the TNA World Heavyweight Championship or the Television title didn't matter, as he was perfect to add credibility to whatever title he held . The man we know best as Nigel McGuinness came to TNA in 2009 and immediately destroyed Kurt Angle, leading one to believe that big things were in his future.

This was cut short less than a year later however, as TNA cut Wolfe's legs from underneath him. He was entered into their Championship Ranking system, where fans could vote for the #1 Contender to then-champion Rob Van Dam's TNA World Heavyweight Championship, and he won the poll after leading it from start to finish.

Wolfe was unsuccessful, and shuffled down into insignificance after this. His in-ring career was cut short due to injury and illness in 2011.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
