10 Best Traditional WWE Survivor Series Matches Ever
2. Team WWF (The Rock, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Kane & Big Show) vs The Alliance (Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Booker T, Shane McMahon & Rob Van Dam) - Survivor Series 2001
Although the Invasion is rightly looked back upon as the biggest blown opportunity in wrestling history, the WWF at least had the decency to end it with a fittingly epic match. The decision to have the WWF vs Alliance struggle end in a Survivor Series matchup (with control of the entire company on the line, no less) returned some semblance of credibility to the format, particularly with either team headed by the mammoth stars of the Attitude Era: The Rock and Steve Austin. It also allowed for various storylines to play out sequentially which would have otherwise disrupted the flow of a shorter or more standard match type. Jericho's frustration with The Rock finally bubbled over and caused him to turn on his teammate, thereby significantly risking the future of the company. It was a marvellous piece of storytelling, perfectly fitting Y2J's consistently selfish, egomaniacal character. Similarly, the reveal of Kurt Angle as a double-agent was intertwined within the match, as he turned on Austin and the Alliance to help Team WWF secure the victory. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcqpa_team-wwf-vs-the-alliance_sport So many elements gave the match an especially significant feel: JR and Heyman's increasingly frantic commentary, shots of the entire WWF and Alliance roster watching in their respective locker rooms, and the image of Vince McMahon celebrating wildly at the top of the ramp following the final fall.
