10 Best Traditional WWE Survivor Series Matches Ever
10. Team DX (Triple H, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk & Hardy Boyz) vs Team Rated-RKO (Edge, Randy Orton, Johnny Nitro, Mike Knox & Gregory Helms) - Survivor Series 2006
The very nature of a traditional Survivor Series match means that quite often there is a sole survivor, sometimes two, and three on very rare occasions. This match, although hardly the most dramatic or breathtaking match in the PPV's history, delivered a whitewash result for the faces - something only accomplished three times since Survivor Series' inception. Although placed in the same team as the infinitely more establish foursome of Degeneration-X and the Hardy Boyz, CM Punk stole the show here by drawing a raucous crowd reaction. The match stands out for the babyface antics of the two DX men in particular, rather than any sort of compelling in-ring action. Although completely acceptable, a 5-0 victory was never going to set the world alight, something all ten men were able to recognise and use to their advantage. The bout at times resembled a comedy match, most notably during the first elimination; Shawn Michaels blasted relative newbie Mike Knox with a Sweet Chin Music and covered him for the pin, before turning to Triple H and asking who on earth he'd just eliminated. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xyam9g_team-dx-vs-team-rated-rko_sport It was an unashamed burial of the heel team, but the Survivor Series format provided an acceptable platform upon which to do so. It stands out as a unique point in the PPV's lifespan, although it's lack of truly quality wrestling explains its low placing here.
