10 Best WCW Monday Nitro Matches Ever

10. WCW World Title: Bill Goldberg Vs. Hollywood Hogan (July 6, 1998)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD4L_T33zWE What an atmosphere there was for this match. Hollywood Hulk Hogan was the WCW World Champion at the time while Goldberg was the undefeated US Champion with 107 victories and no losses. That 107 number was made up (naturally), but he didn't lose a match for nearly a year after his debut, so it's still very impressive. The actual match went about nine minutes, but there was so much hype around it as well as the build up to it that it felt longer. Hogan connected with his patented leg drop a few times, but Goldberg kicked out. There was some outside the ring action with the NBA's Karl Malone dropping Curt Hennig with a Diamond Cutter. Goldberg nailed Hogan with a Spear and Jackhammer with the whole stadium full of people standing. Goldberg covered for the win and was the new WCW Heavyweight Champion. There are probably better matches involving other WCW stars, matches that might have been good but ultimately inconsequential. But in terms of importance and its place in WCW history, few are more significant than this one. That's why it is one of the best matches in Nitro history.
