10 Best World Champions Of The WWE Attitude Era
4. Shawn Michaels
The way he became the first WWE Champion to strut his stuff in the company's new period of "Attitude" unquestionably left a bad taste in the mouths of many. But it's still hard to argue against 'The Heartbreak Kid' being one of the greatest of all time and one of the very best to hold the top belt during this adventurous era.
Along with routinely taking the p*ss out of whoever was unfortunate enough to be in his sights, the D-Generation X leader took pleasure in regularly breaking the rules throughout his 140-day run as WWE's degenerate top champion.
And after completely destroying his back in a Casket war with The Undertaker, a pompous Michaels ultimately acted as the perfect foil to a white hot 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin heading into WrestleMania XIV.
Were it not for HBK's always chaotic and gripping shenanigans whilst holding that WWE Championship early into this edgier spell in company history, the Attitude Era would've unquestionably been a lot less riveting... and controversial.
And while he may not have been everyone's cup of tea, 'The Showstopper' still found a way to always steal the spotlight when terrorising Monday Night Raw with his gang of miscreants.
