The Miz had typically been considered a joke of a contender for the early part of his WWE career, but in the late 2000s, he started to show marked improvement. First, he formed a successful team with John Morrison, and then he captured the United States Championship. By the time he won the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2010, nobody was complaining.

For months, Miz paraded around with the briefcase, biding his time and waiting for the opportunity to become WWE World Champion. He got it on November 22, when Randy Orton defended the title against Wade Barrett on Raw. Orton (with a little help from John Cena) managed to beat Barrett, but when The Nexus chased Cena away, there was nobody to protect "The Viper." Miz cashed in his briefcase and quickly beat Orton for the title.

Fans were stunned - especially one girl in the audience, who won a Slammy Award for her livid reaction. Still, Miz's victory was inevitable, and his crowning moment was worthy of the company's fastest-rising star.
