Rey Mysterio’s last couple years in WWE were disappointing. Due to extra muscle mass, and a series of injuries, he was a shell of what he used to be. Of course, since he neared the 40-mark, it was to be expected that he could no longer match his earlier work, but his decline was a dramatically sharp one.

Luckily, he has turned things around in Lucha Underground. At Ultima Lucha Dos, he battled Prince Puma in one of the best matches the company has aired so far. It was the tale of the old guard holding onto their spot, as the newest, hottest wrestler tried to prove they were the new king. It worked out brilliantly, and Rey was able to successfully match one of the most athletic wrestlers on the planet.

WWE rumours still abound for him, but hopefully he looks to his friend Alberto Del Rio and sees how his last year has gone. Rey has proved that he still has a lot left in the tank and he should be able to put on a few more great matches before the end of his amazing career.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
