10 Best Wrestlers Of 2020

1. Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley is the best wrestler in the world right now. He is demonstrably excellent at everything required to be a headlining weekly television performer and so consistent that he was the only reasonable pick for this spot, even with his recent World Title loss.

Barely a week passes without Moxley cutting a rugged, authentic promo that accomplishes more in two minutes than most wrestlers can in 20. Whether he is selling himself, his opponent, his feud, his championship, or his match, Mox stares down the camera lens, pulls you in, and makes you care more about his subject than before he opened his mouth.

Moxley, the character, is everything latter-day Dean Ambrose was not. He's a bellicose, swaggering badass you don't want to mess with, but so charismatic, cool, and inherently decent that he'd be a riot to sink beers with. This makes Mox a perfect babyface: he stands up and fights when wronged, often blurring the lines but never overstepping the mark. A hero that takes no sh*t and does what's needed to be done.

Perhaps his in-ring résumé lacks the highs of a Kenny Omega, but Mox has had excellent bouts with 'The Cleaner', MJF, Brodie Lee, Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer, Darby Allin, and many more in 2020. Full Gear's I Quit match with Eddie Kingston was the most gutwrenching, heartbreaking clash of the year. Moxley's body of work is strong.

Nobody had a better World Title reign than Moxley in 2020 either. The AEW strap always felt like the most important thing on the planet whenever it was in Mox's clutches. He was a fighting champion who put the strap over at every opportunity, his efforts ensuring that for the first time in a long time, the IWGP Heavyweight Title (passed around like cinema popcorn in 2020) didn't feel like the most prestigious prize in wrestling.

On top of all this, Moxley is over as hell, possesses an excellent wrestling mind, and is a genuine ratings draw in the Wednesday Night Wars.

All of this makes Jon Moxley a great professional wrestler.
