If Bret didn't lose the WWE Championship to Owen Hart, there was a perfectly good challenger waiting in the wings who was also a member of "The Hitman's" family.

Once again, the result would have been one of the hugest rematches in WWE history.

SummerSlam 1994 didn't just see Bret and Owen clash in a cage match, it also saw the WWE return of "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith. In the months following the show, the brothers continued feuding, and while Bret's former partner, Jim Neidhart, sided with Owen, Smith had the WWE Champion's back.

WWE could have used Smith's return to build to a match with "The Hitman," playing off their legendary contest at SummerSlam 1992. After helping Bret battle Owen and Neidhart, Smith could have requested a shot at "The Hitman's" championship, creating a wedge between the two.

Though Bret wouldn't have denied Smith's request, the tension would build until Survivor Series, where the two would clash and Smith would claim gold in an amazing bout.

In reality, Bret and Davey Boy did have an excellent rematch in 1995, but Bret was the winner. If the same match (with a different ending) punctuated the Bulldog's return to the company in 1994, he'd have been a main-event player forever.
