10 Best Wrestlers Who Never Held The WWE Title (And When They Should Have Won)

7. Owen Hart (SummerSlam 1994)

Owen Hart became a superstar in a single match. In WrestleMania X's opening contest, Owen and his older brother, Bret, had one of the greatest bouts in wrestling history, and Owen scored a clean win when he outsmarted his older brother.

Later that evening, of course, Bret defeated Yokozuna for the WWE Championship, and it was clear Owen deserved a shot at the belt.

The younger Hart kept pursuing his brother, winning the 1994 King of the Ring tournament and eventually being granted his shot at SummerSlam.

Owen and Bret had a steel cage match that rivalled their WrestleMania bout in terms of quality, but that time, Bret was victorious, retaining the championship.

Had Owen won another amazing contest over Bret - for the WWE Title, no less - there would have been no denying that he was a true main eventer.

Depending on how business was going, he could have served as a long-term heel champion, fighting men like The Undertaker, Davey Boy Smith, Razor Ramon, and even Bret again.

We would have missed out on Diesel's year-long championship reign, but I don't think anybody would have minded, to be honest.
