10 Best Wrestling Face Paints Ever

8. Legion Of Doom

Okay, I know, the Legion of Doom are probably the most iconic tag team in the history of the business. Animal and Hawk were responsible for making tag team wrestling truly big business, and they were as tough and ready as they come. Their matches weren't pretty, but fighting rarely is. They made spiked shoulder-pads and face-paint cool. More than cool: insanely cool.

But you know what, let's talk about this face paint for a moment. Sure, it is awesome it an iconic manner, but from an artistic point of view? Hawk's almost looks lazy, the project of a child who has no interest in pursuing a career in art. Admittedly the red and black matched the colour scheme of the duo, and he gets points for that.

As for Animal, oh boy. If Hawk is a lazy art project, Animal is the over-excited version. There's just too much going on here to truly take in, all intricate colour and spikes making for an unfocused design. To top it off a spider sits on his forehead, for some reason that I can't quite figure out.

Iconic? Yes. Messy? Yes.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
