10 Best Wrestling Face Paints Ever

7. Demolition

First things first, I'm going to make a slightly unpopular statement: I prefer Demolition to the Legion of Doom. Yes, the story goes that Ax and Smash were put together as Demolition by Vince McMahon in order to rib the Legion of Doom, further proof that professional wrestling is a world inhabited by schoolchildren. Whether or not that is true, for me Demolition are just more enjoyable. They gave their opponents something, managing to be dominant without seeming completely impenetrable.

They also had better face paint. Sure, Ax's garb wasn't up to much, but if we're continuing the Legion of Doom comparison its still somewhat cooler than Hawk. Smash is where the home-run is hit however. Barry Darsow is one of the least appreciated professional wrestlers of his entire era, and deserves kudos for the effort he put into the lame Repo Man gimmick.

His face-paint as part of Demolition was a thing of beauty. Alternating red and white spikes were the theme, and although a touch of yellow was added from time to time it was this red and white classic design that takes the biscuit. From an artistic point of view, it is beautiful in its simplicity.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
