10 Best Wrestling Face Paints Ever

6. The Ultimate Warrior

Much like the Legion of Doom, I imagine a few will take umbrage with the Ultimate Warrior sitting relatively low on the list. If your introduction to professional wrestling was via the World Wrestling Federation, the chances are Warrior was your favourite face-painted wrestler as a child, unless you were a strangely big fan of the Powers of Pain. There's no doubting that the Warrior's trademark paint job is truly iconic.

But outside of its iconic status, the only thing that is truly artistic and fresh about it was Warrior's impressive range of colours. This was the beauty of the Warrior's paint. The shape was merely a brand icon, something that could be sold to a mass audience. There's a reason Warrior's final speech on Monday Night RAW was given wearing a Warrior mask as opposed to actual paint, and that reason involves fans, dollars, and a merchandise stand.

But still, the variation in colour was a wonderful thing. We'll all have our favourites, but it is difficult to top the classic clean white and bright that we all knew and love. As mentioned earlier my father went to my first ever live professional wrestling show with Warrior face paint on, and as a child this was the coolest thing in the world. As an adult, it is a thousand times cooler.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
