7. Jon Moxley Vs. Chris Jericho

The Inner Circle have always been more compelling when presented as a dangerous, violent mob than they are during their frequent comedic forays. They're good at the lighter stuff as well, but when things get serious and Chris Jericho's mob swarms, their grip on AEW seems unbreakable.

This was never more true than during Jericho's World Title feud with Jon Moxley. In character - and he did a great job of hiding this - 'Le Champion' wanted nothing to do with a man who'd just flayed Kenny Omega at Full Gear, so he tried to fob him off with expensive sports cars and an invitation to join The Inner Circle. When this failed, and Mox smashed a bottle of bubbly across Jericho's skull, leaving him unconscious in a wailing Jake Hager's arms, Jericho went scorched earth.

A steel spike to the eye robbed Moxley of half his vision for most of the program. This segued beautifully into a two-week mini-program with Proud and Powerful, throughout which Santana emerged as a potential babyface force, painfully recalling his father's real-life blindness as he and Mox went Eye for an Eye.

Jericho stacked the dominos and Moxley knocked them down. One contrived Revolution finish aside, the storyline was excellent, presenting Jericho as a conniving gang leader worthy of comeuppance and Mox as the baddest man on the planet.
