We're yet to truly see the fruits of this labour, but Captain New Japan turning his back on the company in his name to side with Bullet Club as Bone Soldier deserves a place on any list. It was proof once more than however mind-numbing NJPW undercard booking can seem at times it almost always leads to something wonderful, something beautiful.

CNJ spent most of 2016 teaming with Yoshitatsu in the truly woeful Hunter Club team, which acted as a way for Yoshi to try out an awful Triple H cosplay whilst the Captain continued to get pinned. CNJ's continual defeats led to Yoshi conducting an old-fashioned Twitter poll (as in like to keep, re-tweet to not) to see whether the Captain would be allowed to stay in Hunter Club

Well, the Captain took matters into his own hands recently at Destruction in Kobe, turning his back on Yoshi and New Japan Pro Wrestling by joining up with Bullet Club as Bone Soldier. Whatever happens (and Bone Soldier getting pinned a lot is the only likelihood), Captain New Japan is truly interesting again for the first time in forever.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
