It might seem like a million miles away today, but once upon a time Roman Reigns was one of the hottest professional wrestlers in all of World Wrestling Entertainment.

His flaws have been exposed in singles matches that don't involve him taking a beating for a large majority, and the WWE Universe has soured on him in the process.

When he was a part of the three-man group known as The Shield however, Reigns knew his place and certainly excelled in it. His role was to bring the beating and do it with energy and silence, to wait for his moment and hit with intensity.

On a number of occasions he did this with aplomb, with his Drive-By apron dropkick being a particularly powerful part of his arsenal in this regard.

He might get ragged on constantly today, but there was a time when seeing Roman Reigns get tagged into a match was the highlight of the show.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
