10 Best Wrestling Matches In Non-Wrestling Movies

8. Ellie-May Clampet Vs. Derek - The Beverly Hillbillies

The hugely endearing Clampett family of the Beverly Hillbillies have been a part of the American culture for 60 years this year. So with such iconic characters, a catchy theme song and the ultimate fishes-out-of-water story of backwoods hicks moving to one of the world's wealthiest neighbourhoods, a film adaptation was inevitable. But despite an ideal cast, the 1993 movie was brought low by a lacklustre script that reeks of 90s cheese.

After patriarch Jed strikes oil and moves his family to Beverly Hills, daughter Ellie-May attends the local school and upon hearing there's a wrestling team, wants to join up. But of course, no girls are allowed, so she challenges the team captain Derek to a match in the gym, something that the whole school finds exciting for some reason.

Clearly, Ellie-May got her lessons watching WCW as most of the moves she pulls off are of the southern "wrasslin" variety, and apparently illegal in an amateur contest, including her Clampett Clamp (a triangle hold), Possum Pretzel (a surfboard stretch), and her Hickory Nut Crunch (a low blow that shouldn't hurt because Derek is clearly wearing a cup).

Regardless, despite her very illegal offence and generally poor basics, she's named the new team captain to much rejoicing.
