10 Best Wrestling Matches In WWE February PPV History
6. Bret Hart Vs. The Undertaker Vs. Vader Vs. Steve Austin - In Your House 13
The World Wrestling Federation was beginning to turn a corner in 1997 after the darkness of the mid 1990s, with popular characters beginning to gain traction and a main event scene full of competitors who deserved to be there. Things weren't helped when Shawn Michaels 'lost his smile' and went home, but the vacating of the World title led to this fatal four way between four true legends of the sport. It was a battle royal with pinfalls and submissions also legal. Austin had won the Royal Rumble in controversial circumstances that year, re-entering himself after being eliminated due to the referees missing it, and his beef with Bret Hart was reaching molten lava status in terms of heat. This match steps up to the plate in terms of intensity, with Vader's eye bleeding from pretty early on. Bleeding eyes always make me feel a bit queasy. In many ways, Vader is the true MVP of this match and watching it back makes one a little sad that he was never treated with the respect he so richly deserved. His performance is dominating to say the least. Bret would take home to victory by clotheslining Taker out at the last, but he would soon drop the title to Sid and go on to face Austin at WrestleMania in one of the all time great matches.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
