10 Best Wrestling Matches Of The Week (Aug 7)

6. Jay Lethal & The Briscoes Vs. Adam Cole & The Young Bucks (Ring Of Honor TV, 3 August)

After skirting around the issue for almost too long, Ring of Honor finally pulled the trigger and made Bullet Club seem like a legitimate heel threat in the company. BC has always run the risk of being 'cool heels', something which isn't so much of an issue in Japan, but by beating down Lethal and the Briscoes after the match and cutting the ROH Champion's hair, they are clearly established as villains in North America.

The six-man before the hair-cutting was a great match too, the second straight week that ROH has pulled out something special on TV. 2016 hasn't been a stellar year for Ring of Honor, but they've really begun to turn the tide over the last couple of weeks.

Adam Cole is such a perfect fit for Bullet Club it is unreal. Cole and Jay Briscoe had a great exchange towards the end of the match, but the most impressive thing here was how well paced the heat segments were. Whether it was Mark or Lethal getting beat down, it never felt tiring or long.

Lethal rolled up Nick for the win, but the post-match shenanigans pushes this onto my list this week.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
