10 Best Wrestling Matches Of The Week (August 1)

6. Jay Lethal vs. Roderick Strong (Death Before Dishonor)

Ring of Honor's recent iPPV, Death Before Dishonor XIII, aired last Friday and was headlined by double champion Jay Lethal and challenger Roderick Strong. Lethal's ROH World Championship was on the line and considering how great these guys have been over the past year or so, it could've been a classic.

The match started slow and after almost a half hour of the action not really stepping up into that next gear, I figured out that this would be a long one. I watched it on replay and avoided spoilers but had no idea that this one was going the distance. The two went to a 60 minute time limit draw and the crowd in attendance loved it.

ROH faithfuls might fault me for not ranking this match higher on this week's list, but the entire thing just felt like a setup to something bigger for me. The slow pacing made sense in hindsight because of the ending but I'm really hoping that whatever rematch they have isn't so ambitious regarding time.

Don't get me wrong, this was good. But I feel like if they simply went 20 minutes then they could probably ramp up the excitement to tip this into the 'great match' category.
