10 Best Wrestling Matches Of The Week (July 22)

8. Johnny Mundo, Jack Evans & PJ Black Vs. Aerostar, Drago & Fenix - Lucha Underground Ultima Lucha Dos - 20/7/16

Seth Rollins Dean Ambrose
El Rey Network

Unlike the first season of Lucha Underground, the second seemed to splutter somewhat towards the end. As a result, Ultima Lucha felt less monumental than the year prior, and the overriding feeling is that the show has some ground to regain in season three.

The final instalment of Ultima Lucha was opened by an immensely fun match however, that saw Aerostar, Drago & Fenix win the Trios Championships by defeating the prick trio of Johnny Mundo, PJ Black and Jack Evans. Mundo, Black and Evans have been a riot over the last few weeks, but it was good to see them get their comeuppance for their seemingly constant low blows, taunting and cheating.

The pace was quick and constant, as one would expect from a lucha trios match, and Angelico returning to cost the heels the title was quite a nice touch. A great way to kick off a show that would stutter somewhat in the middle.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
