Thanks to WWE's Battleground from last weekend, this has been an above average week of wrestling. Last Sunday's event alone accounts for four out of the ten best matches of the past seven days. The top three spots are all matches from that card.

WWE has also brought their 'A Game' when it comes to their Diva's division. Two of the matches on this list are represented by the ladies of the main roster and Sasha Banks is in both of them. That women is a star.

Just like every week, more than just WWE are regarded for the top bouts. Lucha Underground, NXT, TNA, and Ring of Honor are also considered. As an author who writes about professional wrestling, it's fun to simply watch all of the weekly shows that I can and judge all of the performances against each other.

The only show not represented this time around is Ring of Honor, but with their iPPV happening this weekend they will most likely produce a few of the best matches for next week's list. That's something to look forward to.

The following ten matches are the absolute best pro-wrestling bouts of the week...

10. Rusev vs. Kevin Owens (Smackdown)

As John Cena sets his sights on Seth Rollins, the three men who've challenged him over the past month are in need of direction going in to SummerSlam. That's what it felt like for Rusev, Owens, and Cesaro over the past week of TV. The number ten best match of the week, Rusev vs. Owens from Smackdown, helped bridge these men to their next chapters.

The match itself was a fun affair - while it lasted. Owens busted out a pretty sick Codebreaker in one of the more memorable spots. Rusev kicked his way towards gaining momentum near the end and it looked like he was about to lock in the Accolade but Owens bailed for the countout at that point.

This was a decent match considering neither are babyfaces. If this were a program where Owens was clearly positioned as the crowd-favorite and they were given a lengthy match time, they could probably do something really special.

As of Smackdown, Owens has aligned himself against Cesaro while Rusev, along with Summer Rae, still has Dolph Ziggler and Lana to worry with.
