Undefeated Goldberg was steamrolling his way through most of the WCW roster in 1998, and it was inevitable that he'd eventually meet Hogan - whose grip on the main event had been unabating since he jumped ship from WWE. This match had Starrcade - or at least Halloween Havoc - written all over it, but in the end we got it on Nitro.
Goldberg sealed his first World Heavyweight Championship to a rapturous ovation from the Atlanta crowd. Bischoff and co celebrated a well-deserved ratings win, granted, but a more patient approach could have brought them the big bucks.
