2005 was a tumultuous year for both Matt and Jeff Hardy.

Matt's toxic love triangle with Lita and Edge had been made public, and Jeff was toiling in TNA. By 2006, things looked a little brighter. Both found themselves back in WWE, and the company announced that they'd be teaming together for the first time in four years at Survivor Series.

There, as part of Team DX, The Hardy Boyz looked reenergised, excited to be working together as a tandem again and, crucially, motivated. They'd continue their momentum, eventually winning the World Tag-Team Titles in April 2007. It was clear from their smiles afterwards that this was a personal triumph as well as a professional one.

WWE's decision to reunite The Hardy Boyz came at the right time for both. Matt and Jeff seemed a little lost, and they needed something to help them realise that fans still loved them. The enthusiastic response to their return said it all.

Team Xtreme was back.
