10 Best Wrestling Tournaments Ever

9. World Title Tournament '99 (WCW)

Why this is #9: Truth be told, many of the matches in this tournament were pretty awful but it makes the list simply on sheer scale and marquee names in the bracket. WCW held a massive 64 wrestler tournament for the (seemingly always) vacant WCW world title featuring a majority of their top talent including Goldberg, Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Scott Hall, Sid Vicious, Eddie Guerrero, DDP and Jeff Jarrett. This tournament also featured some rare matches such as Perry Saturn versus Bret Hart and Billy Kidman clashing against his stablemate, Konnan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8Ts9t0P2xo Best Match: Chris Benoit vs. Bret Hart. An easy decision since the majority of the matches were pretty bad (see Evan Karagias vs. Madusa as a prime example) but the finals were legit. Both men were going for their first WCW World title and it came off the heels of their classic Owen Hart tribute match from October. This match wasn€™t their top contest but it served as a suitable, emotional final to this huge bracket. Winner and Aftermath: Bret Hart would finally win his first and only WCW world title by submitting Benoit in the finals. Unfortunately, the Hitman€™s career would come to an abrupt end only a few months later as he suffered several concussions in titles defenses to Bill Goldberg. This tournament would essentially serve as the final highlight in the historic career of the Hitman.
