10 Best Wrestling Tournaments Ever

6. Brawl For All (WWE)

Why it€™s #5: Let€™s be honest, this tournament has nothing to do with professional wrestling other than the fact that actually WWE professional wrestlers were the participants. This tournament was actually a hybrid boxing/MMA shoot fight between real wrestlers that happened once in the 90€™s and will likely never, ever happen again. Yet, that is exactly why this is so memorable an entry on this list. Wrestlers with legit boxing credentials like Marc Mero were combatants along with renowned locker room tough guys like Bradshaw, Bob Holly and €œDr. Death€ Steve Williams. They faced off in a 16 man bracket that was essentially devoid of top WWE stars (probably since management didn€™t want those guys getting legit injured in these contests) and featured mid to lower card guys like Bart Gunn, Bob Holly and Droz. What ensured was €œToughman Contest€ style brawls that were sloppy, violent and interesting all at the same time. The whole thing was an unforgettable event that really should never have happened in the first place. Best Match: Bart Gunn vs. Steve Williams. Many matches in the tournament were won on points at the end of the rounds but that wasn€™t usually the case with Bart Gunn matches. Rumor has it that this whole tournament was created to be a star vehicle for €œDr. Death€ Steve Williams to beat up wrestlers to hype his pro wrestling persona. That plan was certainly scrapped when perennial mid-carder Bart Gunn came in and put €œDr. Death€ to sleep with a few seconds left in the third round. Winner and aftermath: Bart Gunn would go on to knock out Bradshaw in the finals and win the whole tournament. His prize would be getting absolutely starched by Butterbean in a celebrity boxing match at Wrestlemania 15 in one of the worst KO€™s you will ever see in your life. Thankfully, the WWE probably realized this whole tournament was a massive mistake and it has not come close to recreating anything like it.
