The most recent WWE effort on this list, John Cena's three-match series with AJ Styles between last year was perhaps also the best ring work WWE's franchise player has ever managed.

And that's no mean feat, because Cena has been one of wrestling's best performing workers for the last decade. It was going to take something special to better his impressive big match repertoire - and AJ, among just a handful of stars who can genuinely claim to have been better in that time, helped him find it.

They first met at Money in the Bank, an effort they bettered two months later at SummerSlam. At the Royal Rumble, Cena - having lost the previous two - desperately needed to pick up the win to prove himself and that, apart from the 700 false finishes, was what made it so compelling.
