10 Best Wrestling Trilogies
4. John Cena Vs. CM Punk
If we have to awkwardly describe any modern-era feud as the successor to Austin-Rock then it's probably John Cena-CM Punk, whose three pay-per-view matches between 2011 and 2012 (together with a stellar one on Raw the following year) haven't really been matched in WWE since.
And, like most trilogies, the first one was the best. Money in the Bank 2011's main event had just about everything you could ask of a wrestling match: excellent story-telling, compelling drama, technical prowess - and, of course, a smash-and-grab title change that left Vince McMahon picking his jaw off the ground.
Two months down the road they met at SummerSlam in the sequel - the weakest of their three bouts, though by no means poor - before a rubber match at Night of Champions a year later. There was, simply, never a dull moment.
