10 Best Wrestling Trios Ever

2. The Shield

The Shield can lay stake to the claim as the best trio of modern times. The powder keg uniqueness of Dean Ambrose, the NXT blueprint work of Seth Rollins and the brooding danger of Roman Reigns made them a world class, made-to-dominate-WWE unit when they crash-landed on planet main roster in 2012. It's no coincidence that all of them made it to World Champ status later.

Armed with entrance music so bad ass it'd make DX weep and SWAT gear that helped them stand out from literally everyone else on TV, The Shield were a revelation when they debuted. They had a rare quality to them too. It was obvious fairly early on that WWE were interested in pushing each of the three individually when they inevitably split.

Nobody was cast as a bump sponge only there to take the fall or protect other members. That was key, and it made The Shield an iron cast triad who came good on their word to take over. Back during that first run between 2012-14, there were few more exciting.
