3. Who Attacked Shawn Michaels?
In the summer of 2002, someone attacked Shawn Michaels in a parking lot and smashed his face into a car window.
Unlike many of the other mysteries on this list, this one didn't simmer for a long time. There was no extended investigation. One week later, Shawn appeared via satellite and revealed that Triple H was the one who sneak-attacked him.
Now, it's hard to remember, but there was a time when HHH betraying HBK was unthinkable. This was before Katie Vick, before he attacked Jeff Hardy in a hallway, before he screwed Seth out of the Universal Title, before he was go-to villain #1 for any and all backstabbings in WWE.
At the time, the idea that Hunter would attack his Kliqmate Shawn -- a man who had retired from the ring four years earlier and was still kayfabe unable to wrestle -- was a solid surprise.
This was one of WWE's shortest whodunits, but it was among the most effective.
