John Cena has had his fair share of heated rivalries over the course of his career, including the evil Edge. At the onset of 2006, Edge cashed in his opportunistic Money in the Bank briefcase on Cena to capture his first WWE Championship and thus one of the most storied rivalries in recent memory was born.

They crossed paths at various points in the months that followed, and although it looked like Cena was bound to win back the belt in his hometown of Boston at SummerSlam, he fell short of victory. He just couldn't seem to unseat Edge as champion when it mattered most, especially with Lita constantly in the corner of The Rated-R Superstar.

Edge agreed to grant him one last title match at Unforgiven, but it would be in his hometown of Toronto and his specialty match, TLC. Furthermore, if Cena failed to become champion, he would have been banished from Monday Night Raw. Cena gave Edge the fight of his life, and despite not being entirely comfortable in Edge's own environemnt, he prevailed with the title in tow after delivering an Attitude Adjustment to Edge off the top of a ladder and through several tables.

Not only was Cena now a three-time WWE champion, he secured his spot on the Raw roster as a result of his win.
