10 Best WWE Character Arcs Since Last Year's WrestleMania
4. Lacey Evans (Running Joke To Inspirational Force)
Remember when Lacey Evans would just walk out to her (annoyingly catchy) entrance theme, wave and then waltz straight into the back? She even did it on the Grandest Stage last year.
Yeaaaaah, that was always going to set her up as a serious contender further down the line, wasn't it?
As a matter of fact, it did... for a bit.
Evans was quickly thrown into a top spot after 'Mania 35 (long before she was ready) and tangled with new Raw/SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch for a couple of months, before she was convincingly vanquished by 'The Man'.
A never-ending feud with Natalya followed, before the 'Sassy Southern Belle' was eventually drafted over to SmackDown.
Handing out Women's Rights to 'nasties' she deemed beneath her clearly wasn't working out for Evans, so something had to change going forward.
Sasha Banks and Bayley were next up for Evans after she took exception to their criticism of her and a new realisation that she could be a shining light for mothers and ex-military everywhere suddenly forced fans to rethink their opinions of the often derided star. A bitter feud with Bayley then unfortunately ended with Evans on the losing side in her SmackDown Women's title match at the Royal Rumble.
Evans has undergone quite the transformation over the last year, improving in the ring and going from jarring token personality to the could-be top babyface in SmackDown's Women's division.
Will she be in the title picture come-Mania 36? What a turnaround that would be.
