Being a weirdo is certainly one of the most enduring gimmicks you can have in the WWE. Goldust has stuck around because of it, and while Stardust may not be a permanent character for Cody Rhodes going forward, it certainly brought out a side of him we hadnt seen before. Cody is channeling a little Goldust, mixed with a little of Jim Carreys Riddler from the 1995 film Batman Forever, and somehow its working. Many were skeptical at first, but Cody has completely thrown himself into this wacky, whimsically villainous character and won nearly every doubter over with his performance. It shouldnt be a big surprise to anybody that Codys been able to completely lose himself in this character. Cody Rhodes is the WWEs best method actor, and any time theyve given him something to play with, hes knocked it out of the park. It started with Dashing Cody Rhodes. Cody took what should have been an innocuous gimmick based on vanity and made it something that felt fresher and more engaging than it had any right to be. His real commitment to a bit shone through when they transitioned him into the slightly psychotic Disfigured Cody Rhodes. He really sold the anguish of losing his Dashing good looks, and took that hurt and anger out on everyone around him. The guy even sold the simple change of growing a moustache like a champ. This guy absolutely takes any character or gimmick he is given and completely commits to it. He enthrals himself in their psyche and for all intents and purposes becomes them. From Dashing to Disfigured, to moustachioed to Cosmically Weird Stardust, Cody Rhodes is the WWEs best character actor, and deserves far more recognition for it than he gets.
