Although far from the most spectacular Hardcore Champion in history, the late Big Boss Man deserves recognition for his dedication and consistency in the division's early days. He owns the record for longest title reign: 97 days, a huge amount of time considering the speed with which the strap would sometimes change hands (often multiple times in the same show). Boss Man is responsible for some of the nastiest brawls in the title's history, the most memorable probably being his out-of-control encounter with Al Snow at Fully Loaded 1999. The pair brawled out of the Marine Midland Arena, across the street and into a crowded bar. After a collection of antics usually reserved for a backstage brawl on the Smackdown! video games, the interfering Road Dogg drilled Boss Man with his own nightstick, allowing Snow to win the title with a standard pinfall.
