The team of #DIY, comprised of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, were one of the most popular duos of their time.

They were beloved underdogs who eventually captured the NXT Tag Team Championships to the joy of everyone who had followed their story. However, all good things must come to an end.

After losing the titles to the Authors of Pain, #DIY took on Akam and Rezar in a rematch at TakeOver: Chicago. Gargano and Ciampa were unsuccessful in reclaiming the titles and the show ended with the two in an embrace, without their titles but with each other. At least that's what we thought.

Ciampa did the unthinkable and turned on Gargano. He viciously attacked his partner and friend and left every single person watching in a state of shock. Some people might have seen this move coming, but it didn't make it any easier to swallow.

This is the moment that changed NXT forever. It was the beginning of Johnny Gargano's rise to the main event scene, the dawning of Tommaso Ciampa's amazing heel character, and the starting point for the greatest feud in the history of the brand.

The Gargano and Ciampa storyline is one of the best examples of storytelling in the modern age and it all started with this turn.
