The Shield were the hottest act in all of wrestling during their first run. From late 2012 to mid-2014, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose felt fresh and exciting; the first really new stars that WWE had created in years.

Nothing lasts forever though and this was made very obvious on the June 2nd, 2014 episode of Monday Night Raw.

This was the night after Payback and The Shield's clean sweep victory over Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista). Batista quit Evolution and the entire company following this loss, meaning that Evolution were a man down when they confronted The Shield at the end of the episode.

The Game and The Viper talked trash to The Shield from outside the ring, seeming pretty pleased with themselves. When The Shield questioned this, Triple H uttered the now famous line "There's always a Plan B".

That Plan B was Seth Rollins swinging a chair into Roman Reigns' back whilst Ambrose looked on aghast. Ambrose was then the victim of a chair shot and the episode ended with Rollins standing alongside Triple H and Orton. The crowd were nuclear.

This moment set all three Shield members' careers in wildly different directions and is the most important main roster heel turn of the last decade. Sadly for Seth, the main roster isn't all that WWE has to offer...
