There are few matches that have the simultaneous opportunity and pressure of paying off an extensive four-year story arc, but the Triple H/Undertaker WrestleMania 28 Hell In A Cell match gleefully revelled in utilising every aspect of the well-told tale.

Billed as an 'End Of An Era' match thanks to the decreasing main roster responsibilities of both stars (and guest referee Shawn Michaels), Undertaker wrestled with a shaved head for the first time, with the storyline suggesting he'd tried and failed to escape the version of himself that only just defeated 'The Game' one year earlier.

It was canny gamesmanship from WWE - Hunter had lost that night, but in walking out under his own power in contrast to a stretchered Undertaker, had he really?

The ultimate frenemy of both men in storyline terms, Michaels was a natural fit as referee, and aided the absorbing drama when a Superkick/Pedigree nearfall created perhaps the greatest nearly-moment on Undertaker's WrestleMania CV before Brock Lesnar F5'ed it into oblivion.

The overarching message at the time was that 'The Deadman' simply could not be stopped. Not by the DXers, and not on that night, anyway. 'Taker was successful, and in a memorable and poignant visual, helped a truly defeated Triple H backstage when he was unable to do it himself.
