The unfortunate passing of Joanie Laurer left many sports-entertainment fans saddened with the news from April 20th, 2016.

Since then, many articles have been written about the life of Joanie Laurer with most of them focusing on her career inside the squared circle as Chyna.

Obviously, no discussion of Chyna's WWE career would be complete without mentioning the Intercontinental Championship. Chyna became the Intercontinental Champion by defeating Jeff Jarrett at No Mercy 1999.

Although Chyna's sole reign of the 90s came at the very end of the decade, her championship victory was a historic accomplishment. Chyna made history by becoming the very first, and thus far only, woman to hold the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

When it was all said and done, Chyna would be a two-time Intercontinental Champion (three-time, if you count her reign with Chris Jericho as co-Champions which WWE does not), but her groundbreaking run with the title in late 1999 was enough to ensure The Ninth Wonder of the World cracked the top 10.
