6. Bret Hart Vs Shawn Michaels - Survivor Series 97 (Montreal)

WWE.comIt was by no means a five star classic, but Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels in 1997 from Montreal is undoubtedly one of the most important matches in WWE history. You simply couldn't have any list about matches in Canada and not make reference to the infamous night in which the WWF "screwed" Bret Hart. In that sense it has turned into a must see match. The drama is very real and it's still fascinating to see it go down as it did. Shawn Michaels put the sharpshooter on Bret and referee Earl Hebner rang the bell even though Bret hadn't tapped. It then became clear that this was beyond the norm, Vince McMahon was at ringside and Bret spat on the boss after realising what had happened. In defence of Vince, Bret had forced him into a corner, could the chairman really risk his Champion keeping the belt and taking it to WCW where he was imminently bound for? It is a riveting match to bear witness too, starting as an energetic brawl before turning into the most shocking 'shoot' moment in wrestling folklore.
