10 Best WWE Matches Ever To Take Place In The UK
6. The Rock Vs. Triple H Vs. Shane McMahon - Insurrextion 2000
The Rock versus Triple H was the rivalry of the year 2000 and the pair had quality singles pay-per-view main events at Backlash and Judgement Day (in a sixty-minute Iron Man match). WWE knew that this was the match to go with for their UK-exclusive pay-per-view, Insurrextion, albeit with a twist.
Instead of a traditional one-on-one match, this was a triple threat also featuring Shane McMahon who, of course, was only there to make sure that The Game dethroned The Great One and left London in possession of the WWE Title.
Or was it? It was teased throughout the night that Shane himself might have wanted to win the industry's top prize and further intrigue was added when Vince McMahon failed to declare whether he was supporting his son or his son-in-law.
As for the match itself, it was mostly typical Rock/HHH goodness, but Shane more than played his part, too, and inevitably turned on Trips in an effort to win the match himself. It didn't work and, after some interference from Vince and Gerald Brisco and a ref bump or two, Shane-O-Mac fell victim to a People's Elbow.
It was overbooked Attitude Era goodness at its best and the actual content of the match was solid as well.
