Put DIY and The Revival in the ring at the same time, and magic inevitably happens. The teams put on two of the best matches in NXT TakeOver history last year, and started 2017 with an excellent Tag Title fight on NXT TV. The Authors Of Pain were thrown into the mix earlier this year, and the three teams met in Orlando, producing one of the best in-ring stories of 2017.

This was a tale of three different wrestling styles trying to outdo each other. The Authors brought their imposing power game to the table, The Revival stayed grounded and technical, while DIY fought with trademark speed, intensity, and heart. It was built around the AOP, with rivals DIY and The Revival eventually realising that they needed to join forces to take the monsters down, resulting in some beautiful double-team spots throughout.

With DIY eliminated, it eventually boiled down to The Revival playing defacto babyfaces against their imposing foes. Scott Dawson’s desperation roll-up almost stole the win, but the Authors’ Super Collider finisher eventually sealed the deal, and cemented their status as the division’s undisputed kingpins.
