10 Best WWE Matches Of 2017 (So Far)
3. The Elimination Chamber
The Elimination Chamber has become one of WWE’s signature gimmick matches since its 2002 debut, but WWE decided to put it on the shelf in 2016. The stipulation returned this February, and it delivered on every level, producing one of the best contests in the Chamber’s history.
John Cena entered as WWE Champion, having won his 16th World Title just two weeks prior at the Royal Rumble. He was charged with defending the strap against AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, Dean Ambrose, and The Miz, all of whom were desperate to win.
Corbin was first to go, but looked excellent beforehand. He’d been throwing Ambrose around like a ragdoll prior to getting sidetracked by goading The Miz, allowing ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ to score a sneaky roll-up. Corbin brutalised Dean in the aftermath, so Miz, being the weasel that he is, swept in and stole the pinfall.
Were once again exhibited excellent chemistry, and the match really kicked it when it was down to those two and Bray Wyatt, who was booked like a beast. Bray not only eliminated Cena, but put AJ away following a breathless closing sequence, and left with the WWE Championship after the biggest performance of his career.
